What agencies actually come to us for
Crescentic works as a white label development partner for agencies and enterprise teams that need delivery capacity or specialist engineers. We work in your repositories, under your brand, to your process — and the engineers who learn your client’s system stay on it. This page is for agencies and enterprise delivery leads who need engineering capability behind them, and a partner who will not embarrass them.
The work is almost always one of three situations, and they need different things from a partner.
- Overflow — the pipeline landed, the team is full, and hiring against it is a bet on next quarter.
- Specialist capability outside your core: infrastructure and cloud, commerce platforms, mobile, AI features that have to work in production rather than in a demo.
- Rescue — a project that has gone wrong and needs diagnosis before it needs an estimate.
The third is its own discipline. Inheriting a codebase mid-failure, with a client who has stopped trusting the last team, is not the same job as building something new, and we would rather scope it properly than quote it quickly.
The same engineers, for as long as the account runs.
Your client notices when the people on their project change every quarter — and they blame you, not your subcontractor. Continuity is what we sell, and it is the part of this arrangement that protects your relationship rather than ours.
Can you trust a subcontractor with your client relationship?
It is the only question that matters here, and the honest answer needs evidence rather than assurance. So: one of our longest-running engagements started as delivery through a partner agency.
We will sign whatever non-solicitation and non-circumvention terms you need. But the real protection is the incentive: this line of work lives on agencies recommending us to other agencies, and there is no single client worth more than that.
How we work inside your process
- 01
Your tools, your rituals
Your repositories, your tracker, your branching model, your review standards, your standups. We adapt to how your team already works rather than importing a process nobody asked for.
- 02
Your brand, or ours, your call
We present as your team where that is what the relationship needs, or as a named specialist partner where that is stronger for your client. It depends on what they are buying.
- 03
One accountable point of contact
A named senior engineer who owns the relationship with your delivery lead. Not a coordinator relaying between your team and an offshore bench.
- 04
Honest status, early
If something is going to slip you hear it from us while there is still time to act. A partner who reports green until the week before launch is worse than no partner.
How is this different from an offshore development shop?
| Offshore shop | Contract hires | Crescentic | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Who you get | Whoever is on the bench | Individuals you manage | A named senior team that stays |
| Continuity | Rotates with their staffing | Ends with the contract | Across years on the same account |
| Management overhead | Yours, and substantial | Yours | Ours — one accountable contact |
| Technical decisions | Escalated to you | Escalated to you | Made, and explained |
| Capacity | Effectively unlimited | As many as you can hire | Deliberately limited — we say no |
The last row is the genuine trade-off, and it will occasionally be the reason to use someone else. We take a small number of engagements at a time so that the continuity in the row above it is real. If you need forty engineers next month, we are not the right partner, and we will say so on the first call rather than the third.
Commercials
Fixed bid where the scope genuinely is fixed and you need to quote your client with confidence. Time and materials where it is not, and pretending otherwise would just move the risk rather than remove it. Retainers for ongoing capacity you can plan around.
We will tell you which one fits the work and where the risk sits in each, before you price it for your client.
01.What is a white label development partner?
An engineering team that delivers work under your brand rather than its own. Your client contracts with you, hears from you, and sees your name on the work; we supply the engineers and the delivery. It lets an agency take on work it does not have the capacity or the specialist skills for, without hiring against a pipeline that may not hold.
02.Will you work under our brand and process?
Yes. We work in your repositories, your tracker, your standups and your review process, and we present as your team where that is what the relationship needs. We are equally willing to be introduced as a named specialist partner if that is stronger for your client — it depends on what your client is buying, and it is your call, not ours.
03.Will you go around us to our client?
No, and we will put it in the contract. One of our longest engagements began as delivery through a partner agency and became a direct relationship — and that happened because the agency's own engagement ended, not because we went looking for it. Being the partner that behaves well when nobody is watching is the entire business case for this line of work; the deal we would win by doing otherwise is worth less than the referrals we would lose.
04.How quickly can you put engineers on a project?
Usually weeks, not months, though it depends on the shape of the work and what we already have running. We take a small number of engagements at a time, so we will tell you honestly if we cannot resource something rather than accepting it and staffing it thinly. A partner that says no occasionally is more useful than one that always says yes.
05.What kind of work do agencies bring you?
Three shapes, mostly. Overflow, where the pipeline landed and the team is full. Specialist work outside the agency's core — infrastructure and cloud, commerce platforms, mobile, AI features that have to survive production. And rescue work on a project that has gone wrong, which is its own discipline and usually needs the diagnosis before the estimate.
06.How do you charge agencies?
Fixed bid where scope is genuinely fixed and you need to quote your client with confidence, time and materials where it is not, and retainers for ongoing capacity. We will tell you which one fits and what the risk in each is, because a fixed bid on unclear scope is how both sides end up unhappy.
